“For centuries an interest in clothes has been dismissed as the trivial focus of vain, empty-headed women.
And yet clothes matter, because how we choose to dress ourselves defines our identity. From the immigrant arriving in a new country to the teenager who needs to be part of the fashion pack or the women turning forty, who must reassess her wardrobe, the truth is that how we look and what we wear tells stories.”
Intro:
My mum was a perfect culprit for restyling.
She was a bit worried at first when I told her I wanted to take her shopping and give her a new image, so I decided to make it a bit easy for her and just took her to one well known high street fashion store that is Topshop, she is familiar with Topshop and likes their fashion and occasionally purchases clothes from there.
Topshop is great as it caters for all ages and has a wide variety of attire.
I wouldn’t say my mum has no style but fashion is not her first priority.
When my mum was younger she was a fashion model and looked beautiful so I wanted to bring back some of the style she used to have.
Client Profile:
Name: Jane Hampshire (mum)
Age: 53
Gender: female
Size: 10/12
Shoe size: 5
Height: 5’ 7
Hair colour: blonde
Eye colour: brown

After:
-My mum has amazing long skinny legs so in order to emphasise this I put her in skinny jeans.
-For the first outfit I choose a navy floral jumpsuit and put it over the jeans, it was flattering to her shape and the ruffled detail brought texture to the outfit, I paired this with a ivory coloured snood which looked cute and made it current.
-The second outfit was a beige cotton jumper dress; the ruched shoulders gave the outfit volume and added height to her appearance. The only thing she didn’t like was it was too tight and not flattering.
-As she didn’t feel comfortable with the second outfit I wanted to try something floaty and loose, so I put her in a lacey droopy top, this would be a perfect evening outfit and looked great against her skin tone. She felt more comfortable.
-For the last outfit I wanted to use a bit of colour so I chose a raspberry coloured long cardigan, as these are key this season and paired it with a little cream polka dot vest top, only using a splash of colour worked nicely and I think it encouraged her to wear brighter colours.
